Kinshasa, April 9th, 2025. (CPA) – Four books retracing the history of Congolese music and the contribution of musicians in the development of Rumba, by writer Bathy Asimba from the Democratic Republic of Congo, launched on the literary market in Kinshasa, were the subject of a clarification by the author, during an interview on Tuesday with CPA.
« The books are: L’âge d’or de la musique congolaise (1960-1974, Anthologie), Lita Bembo, bête de scène, roi des spectacles (parcours), Emeneya, la perle rare de la musique congolaise (parcours), Papa Wemba, de moi à toi (témoignages et confidences). These rare works, launched on the Kinshasa literary market, are written by a connoisseur of the subject and a witness to history« , has said writer Bathy Asimba. These books, published by Editions du crayon noir, are intended to serve as a medium for expanding knowledge and preserving the history of Congolese music, which already lacks sufficient written archives.
« These books, three of which bear my exclusive signature and one co-signed by Jean-Pierre Eale Ikabe, Gel Boumbe and myself, help to positively nourish the mind and/or bring it up to date with the true history of Congolese music, » he has said.
Bathy Asimba is a graduate of Scientific Humanities and went on to study advertising at the Kinshasa Academy of Fine Arts (ABA) in 1979. In the course of his career, he has accumulated various patents that have made him a professional in press communication, with various collaborations with different Kinshasa newspapers and the publication of various magazines. The publication of his four books on Congolese music marks the twelfth year of existence of his publishing house (les éditions du crayon noir), which has a number of achievements to its credit, including: three (3) comic strip albums, three (3) novels and five (5) books.
