The need to demand independence and empowerment for Congolese women through entrepreneurship was discussed at a conference called ‘Zawadi’, focusing on the theme: ‘How to promote women’s entrepreneurship’ in Kinshasa (capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo), the CPA learnt on Monday in a press release.
‘We underlined the importance of this month dedicated to women’s rights, by recalling the need to demand the independence and empowerment of Congolese women through entrepreneurship,’ read the press release from the national agency for the development of Congolese entrepreneurship (Anadec).
According to the press release, the women present were urged to continue their fight to obtain their rightful place alongside men, asserting that there are no positions reserved exclusively for men.
The coordinator of the Coalition of Congolese Women Entrepreneurs (COFEC), which organized the event, described Zawadi as a forum for exchanging and sharing experiences, with the aim of empowering women in both a national and international ecosystem.
Anadec is a Congolese government body that promotes national entrepreneurship by providing information and theoretical and practical training on how entrepreneurs can access project financing and public or private markets, with a view to fostering the emergence of the Congolese middle classes.
